OSLO, Norway – 5 September 2025

Hyundai Glovis, a subsidiary of the Hyundai Motor Group specializing in automotive logistics, offers integrated solutions including ocean container shipping and recognized the requirement for industry-leading benchmarking data to provide competitive freight rates for its customers.

Headquartered in Seoul, Hyundai Glovis operates in 85 locations worldwide and was seeking a solution that could deliver detailed, port-to-port level insights into ocean container shipping, both globally and within the Asia region.

Deborah Ong, Head of APAC, stated:

“Hyundai Glovis required a benchmarking tool to support freight procurement and delivery planning across global, regional, and port-to-port levels. For example, outbound shipments from Asia represent a significant part of their operations, and they needed access to data covering port-specific routes to various global destinations.

Xeneta offers neutral, data-driven visibility into these routes, enabling Hyundai Glovis to benchmark carrier rates across both short-term and long-term contract markets.”

“Quite simply, Hyundai Glovis came to Xeneta because we are the only freight intelligence provider with the breadth and depth of data they needed.”

Xeneta’s data calls upon +600 million crowd-sourced contracted container and air freight rates, covering over 170,000 global ocean trade routes and over 58,000 airport-airport connections.

Extreme volatility in ocean container shipping in recent years has raised the importance of pro-active freight procurement strategies for Hyundai Glovis.

This means improved time to market for RFQs, using real time freight rate data to allocate volumes across spot and long term contracts and enhanced budget forecasting and reporting.

Hyundai Glovis are also responding to the market volatility by using Xeneta data to explore index-linked contracts, which ensure freight rates remain aligned to market movement.

Ong said: “Hyundai Glovis are using Xeneta data to take control of their freight procurement at a time of huge economic and geo-political forces in the ocean freight market. Index-linked contracts are rising in prominence because they allow shippers and logistics providers to concentrate on service delivery and supply chain resilience as part of a long-term partnership.

“I’m delighted to welcome Hyundai Glovis to Xeneta and support them on the journey to index-linked contracting as part of a robust and data-driven freight procurement strategy.”
