Telex Release Fee

Definition of telex release:

A Telex release is a message that is sent by the origin port agent of a shipping line or OTI (NVOCC or Freight Forwarder) to their destination port agent confirming that one or all of the original telex bill of lading issued to the shipper has been surrendered by the shipper to them, duly endorsed.

Original bill of lading required.

Shipping lines or OTIs charge a fee to the customer requesting this telex release as an administration fee as it involves updating the shipping line system and/or sending our specific messages to specific destination offices.

This released bill of lading needs to be accurate and timely to ensure that the import customer receives the cargo release in time; therefore, the load port agent must pay attention to the detail of the information being sent.
